Who We Are
Founded in 1977 by banana farmers from Darban, Saltibus, the Saltibus Cooperative Credit Union Limited originated from the need for financial support in the expanding Banana Industry. Initially facing challenges with commercial banks, the credit union, led by Mr. Herbert Henry and Mr. Gabriel “Clauster” Simon, registered in 1978 with only 12 members. Operating from Saltibus Combined School, it later moved to a nearby room above a rum shop, before securing government support in the late 1980’s for a dedicated office building. Today, with about 4000 members, the credit union operates from a modern facility, including a main and sub-branch.
